Shihan and I were roped in to host a CNY luncheon the other day. Special guests included TVB’s 马德钟 and 胡定欣. Pity it wasn’t the other Mr Ma, I would have been delirious with joy if 马浚伟 had appeared instead.
You know what people always said about HK gals being really skinny and pretty? IT IS TRUE.
Hong Kong actresses are thin, gorgeous with fair, porcelain complexions. Well, erm… at least we have sun-kissed skin and lots of Vitamin D. *借-口!!!*

Ruby, one of the bosses, highlighted and dyed my tresses. I love it that the procedure is comfy, painless and FAST. I can never sit still on the hairdresser’s char:

Better late than never, right?
My initial verdict for 2009 was a big red ‘F’. It seemed like every single awful thing, managed to happen in the past year. Yet after much analysis, I realized it was actually a pleasant one. I had gained enough wonderful stuff that in retrospect, whatever I had lost, was just bad rubbish. Good riddance I say!
Some history I can’t change, some friendship I can’t mend, some things I can’t stand, some principles I can’t bend. All these I learnt in 2009.
Whatever doesn’t hurt me, makes me stronger. 2010 is going to be awesome!
I think it has to do with the cool weather, pretty lights, gifts and the fact that we’ve almost come to the end of the old year. Christmas, I heart you!
Some pictures from one of the parties at a good friend’s place on 25 Dec. 13 adults, 1 dog and 12 bottles of wine. Food was delish, entertainment was hilarious, company was wonderful.

Lawyer by day, culinary master by night. The host toiled in the kitchen since Christmas Eve to prepare us the sumptious spread. Some of awesome dishes included arugula salad with roasted bell peppers:
Porcini mushroom and bacon dip went beautifully with the crackers:
She also made the glazed ham with pineapple chutney:
Rosemary and garlic roast lamb. Apparently using a net to tie the meat together helps to hold the flavour and juices in better:
My beautiful and clever friend also whipped up a peanut butter pie with candied bacon, as well as this banoffee pie:
One of the games involved making monkey faces while holding a champagne flute in the hand. I was good at this:

It all began with the chills and a sudden onset of fever that wouldn’t go away. My head started hurting and my body ached. Initially I still thought it was due to Muay Thai practice.
Then my eyeballs felt as though someone was punching them from inside my skull, that’s when I had a vague idea what I was dealing with. Told the doctor I wanted to do a blood test. Just as I expected. Within two days, the petechial (tiny, less than 2mm in size) rashes appeared on my arms, legs and neck.
FUGLY.
This Christmas, I’m buying myself an army of frogs to eat up the entire population of Aedes mozzies! GRR!!!
