B = Bali = Bagus

Shower you with our love

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

To welcome the two little bundles of joy into our group, we threw a baby shower for the moms last weekend.

BTW, baby showers are NOT exactly the same as first month celebrations (满月). A baby shower is traditionally held for expectant mothers. Other women folks gather to impart knowledge to them. As none of us qualify to share our wisdom in bringing up kids, the baby shower was just an excuse to eat and make merry and present gifts to the moms-to-be.

Little boys or little girls?
Make a guess:

Another one bites the dust

W’s wedding coming up soon, so we threw her a hen’s party.
No crazy boozing, costume dressing, club hopping.
This time, we went mild. Sit-down dinner at a nice French restaurant, followed by sleepover at one of the gals’ pad.

Deco was important, so balloons were essential to spruce up the place:

O, Okinawa (I)

Tuesday, October 20th, 2009

I can’t wait to go on another holiday soon. Okinawa was well, interesting. Not your typical Japan.

After I arrived in Oki, friend brought me to a local ramen restaurant.

We should always dress up for meals. Ladies lunching in kimonos:

Nom nom nom! Pork katsu never goes wrong:

The noodles are quite different from the usual Japanese version. Oki soba is wider and thicker. More like meepok. This is soba topped with stewed pig trotters(てびちそば):

Chilli, black pepper, butter or salted egg?

When too good is too bad

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Clearing up the pictures in my laptop. To my horror, realized I’d been on a binge fest since my return from NYC. I’m on my way to become a fatty, no, a FATTY-ER!!! (definition of fatty-er = fatter than a fatty) UGHHHHHHHH!!!

Too much goodness is bad. Little ironies of life.

I always thought Indian food was about roti prata and naan until these came along:

An amazing twist to the normal laksa and char siew. As for the desserts, they blew my mind:

We had these and more, on the 1st of January to usher in the new year. Please tell me how to lose weight in 2009:

Chow chomping

The first thing I did after the exam, was to rush home to give dad a big hug and wish him Happy Pops’ Day.

The second thing I did, was to run out of the house.

This family is postponing the celebration until the baby of the house returns for his term break.
Good luck for your exams too, duckie!

Met the rest of the bunch at the restaurant for some Italian fare.
This place has changed so much since I last visited yonks ago.
Since then, I’ve learnt to accept certain things aren’t meant to be. Which explains why I can now take things lightly.

Fat prawns and mussels vie for attention:

Dimsum Cronies

Thursday, May 1st, 2008

Qn: What’s sadder than shedding tears while watching a weepy show?
Ans: Not being able to wipe the tears or rub your eyes while watching the show, coz you have chilli on your hands.

Bummer.

That was during dinner. So anyway, we had dim sum brunch today. Laughed like hyenas, chattered like monkeys, ate like people (was going to use the word ‘pigs‘, but ‘people‘ seems more delicate).

The grub was excellent and the price wasn’t nasty. We split the bill four ways and paid about $25 each. They even provided free parking. Wonderful. I’ll be back…

The poor chicken lost its feet. No tap-dancing for a while:
